“The Just Judge”

Key Verse

“I can of my own do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just: because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5:30).

Text —John 5:28-34

Message

A writer said, “A self-righteous person judges others. One whose righteousness is in Christ relies on God to be the judge.” The concept of the “just judge” is deeply rooted in religious and philosophical traditions. In Christian theology, God is often described as both just and merciful. Imagine a human judge faced with a vile, wicked murderer who openly admits guilt. Against all expectations, the judge forgives the criminal and lets them walk free. Similarly, God, our ultimate Judge, reconciles justice and mercy. Apostle Paul explains this beautifully in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” This doctrine of substitution allows God to be a just and merciful God — treating Christ as if He were a sinner to redeem humanity from sin.

Friend, prayerfully seek the wisdom and righteousness of the Just Judge. Through prayer, express your trust in God’s ability to balance justice and mercy, even when faced with your own imperfections and failings.
