“Are We Blind Also?”

Key Verse

“And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?” John 9:40.

Text — John 9:35-41

Message

Our topic is a question that was asked Jesus by a group of religious people, called the Pharisees. But how could they ask whether they were blind when they had their eyes opened and could look around and see. The Pharisees did not know the way to salvation and were not interested to find out from Jesus. Jesus had opened the eyes of a blind man. The Pharisees felt they were better than the man because they were not born blind.

In our Bible passage, Jesus was making them to understand that they had a type of blindness that was more serious than physical blindness. Jesus made it clear to them that the blind man who accepted that he was blind and trusted Jesus for his healing, received his sight. In addition, the blind man accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord and was healed of his spiritual blindness. The Pharisees saw the wondrous works of Christ, yet refused to believe in Him and be saved from their sins. They were actually blind. Most of the people you see walking about with their eyes wide open, are blind. They do not see the Saviour and the salvation He gives. They do not see the hell fire just by their side, if they continue in their sinful lifestyle. Repent today and see the path to heaven.
