Key Verse
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12: 2).
Text — Hebrews 12:1-3
Message
Helen Howarth Lemmel in 1918 wrote this amazing hymn that points out Christ’s help for troubled souls:
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Saviour,
And life is more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
In our text, Paul encourages the Church to uphold their faith in Jesus Christ. As believers, when faced with trials and challenges, we are to look unto Jesus, because in Him we have help and hope. Through Christ’s atonement, teaching, and exemplary life, our lives are changed. Looking unto Jesus involves a lifestyle of prayer, and praise, as well as the study of and belief in God’s Word. Let your mind be focused on Jesus. You will make heaven. Press on!
