Saturday, June 14, 2025Key Verse
“Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem…” (2 Kings 21:1).
Text —2 Kings 21:1-8
Message
Apparently talking to young people, Israelmore Ayivor encourages: “Flow wherever you go. You can’t be limited. Dare to rise above all limitations and become better than you were. Strive to arrive at the top.” In our text, we learn that Manasseh became King of Judah when he was twelve years old and reigned for fifty-five years. It is only zeal or zest that can propel a young man to such a pinnacle or zenith of life.
Zest refers to a lifestyle full of a sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy. It is an essential element that nurtures your soul, vivifies your spirit, and makes you human. Zest is a dynamic strength directly related to our physical and psychological wellness. As a young person determined to reach your zenith of life, always develop zest for divine things, while embracing the six virtues that make up human strength – wisdom and knowledge, virtue and courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence. Don’t be like Manasseh who reached his zenith but “wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger” (2 Kings 21:6).
Quote
Always develop zest for divine things.
Challenge
Don’t provoke God to anger.
Prayer for today
Father, keep me ever closer to You even at my zenith.
