“The Treasure In Timothy”
Friday, April 11, 2025Key Verse
“But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man like-minded, who will naturally care for your state” (Philippians 2:19, 20).
Text —Philippians 2:19-24
Message
Though Apostle John is often the one referred to as the apostle of love, Apostle Paul epitomized love, care, discipleship and diligence, both in words, and deeds. This can be gleaned from his writings, especially 1 Corinthians Chapter 13. So when he said that he had “no man like-minded,” it implies that Timothy, his son in the faith, resembled him, or followed his pattern – a chip off the old block. Timothy was loving, caring, diligent, obedient, righteous, and exemplary in character. Paul wrote that “as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.” He trusted Timothy as a man of integrity. He was a treasure.
Timothy was not just picked by Apostle Paul to visit the Philippians but because Paul was convinced beyond all doubts that his mentee would always give himself to selfless Christian service in spite of health challenges. We must study and acquire biblical and secular knowledge but also love and care for people as Paul and Timothy did in their bid to preach the gospel to the lost and mature the saints.
