“The Power Of Praise”
Thursday, May 22, 2025Key Verse
“And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper” (2 Chronicles 20:20).
Text —2 Chronicles 20:20-26
Message
In 2 Chronicles 20:20-26, we witness a powerful demonstration of the effectiveness of praise in the face of adversity. King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were faced with a formidable enemy, but instead of giving in to fear and despair, they chose to trust in God and praise His name. As they lifted their voices in praise, God intervened on their behalf, causing confusion among their enemies and securing victory for His people. The power of praise turned the tide of battle against the enemies and brought about a miraculous deliverance.
In the same way, believers are not expected to give in to despair or despondency during unfavourable situations which would always occur once and again in our lives. Paul and Silas in the prison were found praying and singing praises to God (Acts 16:25). This led to their deliverance from jail and the deliverance of the jailer and his household from the power of Satan by salvation through the gospel message. We are more useful for the glory of God when we surround ourselves with the atmosphere of praise.
