“The Omnipotent God”
Monday, October 28, 2024Key Verse
“I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no Saviour” (Isaiah 43:11).
Text —Isaiah 43:8-13
Message
A boy travelling by air to visit his grandparents sat beside a man who was a seminary professor. The boy was reading a Sunday school magazine, and the professor thought to engage him. “Young man,” said the professor, “if you can tell me something God can do, I will give you a big, shiny apple.” The boy thought for a moment and then replied, “Sir, if you can tell me something God can’t do, I’ll give you a whole barrel of apples!”
In our text idolaters are called to stand in defense of their idols – blind though with eyes and deaf, though with ears – to let them know that our God is incomparable in greatness. He saves and delivers and none can reverse His work – He is all powerful. Matt Chandler rightly says that, “Trying to figure out God is like trying to catch a fish in the Pacific Ocean with an inch of dental floss.” Believers are admonished to trust in God with all their hearts as there is nothing too hard for Him to do for His obedient children.
