“The Marks Of Jesus”

Key Verse

“From henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus” (Galatians 6:17). “Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body” (2 Corinthians 4:10).

Text —Galatians 6:14-18

Message

In ancient times, three classes of persons were branded on their bodies: soldiers in displaying complete commitment to their countries, slaves indicating that they belonged to a master, and devotees signifying their worship of a deity. As every craftsman tries to leave a trademark on their products as a sign of ownership and easy traceability back to the maker, Jesus also puts His marks on every one that is born of the Spirit. These marks just like scars on the skin though not always physical are easily identifiable in every Christian’s life. They might come in form of persecutions, afflictions, and trials, but through these marks, our love for Christ is being proved as genuine and we abound more in fruits both in good works and soul-winning.

Are you ashamed of His marks? From beatings at Philippi to stoning at Lystra and to suffering shipwreck at Melitus, all these and more gave Apostle Paul scars that showed that he was to Christ – a soldier, a slave and a devotee. Jesus says that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
