“Signs Of Perilous Times”

Key Verse

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy” (2 Timothy 3:1, 2).

Text —2 Timothy 3:1-7

Message

When questioned by His disciples about the signs of His Second Coming, Jesus listed: wars, rumors of wars, famine, earthquakes, the rise of false prophets, and increase in iniquity, among others. In our memory verse of today, Apostle Paul further lists the unwholesome moral condition in the last days which include: self-love, covetousness, pride, boasting, blaspheming, disobedience to parents and lack of holiness. Truly, holiness is despised by many people today.

The signs of the times are around us and yet, many a youth is attracted to the broad way. We see godlessness in diverse ways in these days. Many ladies have become victims of money ritual killings. The rate of increase in sinful practices is increasing among our secondary schools and tertiary institutions youngsters as they yield to examination malpractices, fornication, pornography and other vices. On a cursory look, it seems as if the situation is hopeless but looking through the lens of the Bible, we see that our God has not lost hope in humanity, for “He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Quote

Challenge
