Key Verse
“LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1).
TEXT — Psalm 15:1-5
Message
John Mason, in his bestselling book, Why Ask Why? posed seventy thought-provoking questions to readers to help them find answers to building a better life. His conclusion was that if you know the right questions, then you can find the right answers.
King David asked two important questions. Both posers were directed to the Lord but the answers were also provided. His two questions border on the qualifications required from individuals who wish to be with God on His “holy hill”. No clear indication was given as to when the Psalm was written but the death of Uzzah, when the ark of the Lord was being taken to Jerusalem might have influenced the beautiful poem.
Such a frightening experience might have made him conclude that tabernacle issues are meant only for the qualified.
Twelve qualifications were listed for any person to dwell on God’s holy hill. Today, all the twelve qualifications are available through the vicarious death of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has become our righteousness. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can get to the Father except through Him.
Just like David asked the right questions and received the right answers, you also must ask questions about where you will spend eternity. Is it with God, or away from Him? As the Tabernacle of old was not an all-comers place, so is heaven only for those whose sins have been washed away by the blood of the Lamb. David asked the right questions and received the right answers. What about you?
