“Marvels Of Mentorship”
Friday, May 23, 2025Key Verse
“To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee” (I Titus 1:4-5).
Text —1 Titus 1:1-5
Message
Paul Borthwick said, “Spiritual health demands a friend who will walk alongside us, speak truth to us (even when it hurts), and keep us honest in our relationship with God and with other people.” This is a great challenge to Christian students who are not mentoring the young converts in the school fellowships. By this they break the long chain of mentorship from Christ to the Apostles, to the fathers of faith, to the contemporary notable God’s generals, and then to them.
Mentoring is about emptying yourself into someone’s life. It is synonymous to modelling. The mentor must be a good model to be able to inject positive changes into the mentees. This involves changing the spiritual view of your mentee and leading him to the realm where he can appreciate the things of God more perfectly. The mentor must have the right understanding of the scriptures since the Bible remains the manual of any fruitful Christian mentorship. Paul was convinced that Titus could function in full capacity in his absence. Beloved, grow also, and labour to the glory of God.
