Key Verse
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3
Text — 1 John 5:1-3
Message
Jude thought keeping to the family rules was too much for him until he had a terrible experience which he recounted thus “I could remember vividly what happened to me two years ago.
My uncle requested that I come spend the long vacation with his family. To give me a great time, he got me a lot of toys, stocked the freezers with ice creams, chocolates and sweets. There were lots of sweetened drinks and cookies that we hardly prepared any healthy meal or vegetables. I stayed up late at times to watch some favorite TV shows that I hardly have time to pray before going to bed.”
“I went back home with serious stomach and tooth aches. It got so bad that I lost a tooth in the process due to decay. It was at that point I appreciated my parents for their emphasis on healthy eating, exercises, personal and family devotions and a lot of other family rules and lifestyles on which we had always held to from our childhood years.” God has provided us with His word which is not burdensome. If we live by the terms and conditions of God’s word, then we can enjoy His love, joy and unceasing blessings. It really pays to live and abide by God’s commandments.
