Key Verse
“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me” (Mark 10:21).
Text — Mark 10:17-27
Message
A.W. Tozer once wrote: “As base a thing as money often is, yet it can be transmuted into everlasting treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry and clothing for the poor. It can keep a missionary worker actively winning lost men to the light of the gospel and thus transmute itself into heavenly values.
Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with immortality.” This should inspire us as God’s children to always respond to the Spirit’s directives to give for felt and revealed needs of people, including youths, and God’s work.
Everything belongs to God; we are only managing His treasures which He gives to us. The rich young man in our text was eager to enter into eternal life but was grieved to be told by Jesus to give up his riches and follow Him. Remember God can call us to give an account of the use of our riches anytime and after life on earth nothing follows us to the great beyond. Surrender all you are and have to God now.
