Wednesday, March 19, 2025Key Verse
“And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness” (2 Peter 1:6).
Text —2 Peter 1:5-10
Message
Plato, who is one of the greatest philosophers of all time, says: “The first and best victory is to conquer self.” Self-regulation or control is another component of emotional intelligence. Self-regulation is your ability to stay calm and focused amidst challenging situations that can trigger negative feelings. Managing your own emotional state can save you from hasty decisions that could later lead to regrets and guilt feelings. The world is full of adverse situations like temptations, persecutions, and economic hardships. Christian youths should not be carried away by the modern day band wagon effect that is characterized by intolerance and lack of patience.
Believers are commanded by Apostle Peter, through the leading of the Spirit of God to add to their “knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness” in order to lead a peaceful life here on earth. Self-control would help you to maintain peace as you go about your business of the day or interact with others. However, you need to be born again so that God can give you the grace to regulate your emotions.
