“And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole” (Mark 6:56).
TEXT — Mark 6:53-56
Message
Delia Knox, a woman from Alabama, United States, was paralysed for over two decades as a victim of a drunk driving accident in 1987. Through her strong faith in Jesus Christ, she experienced a miraculous healing on Christmas Day in 2010 during a church service. Knox felt a sensation in her legs and was filled with energy, allowing her to walk again.
Knox’s story shows the power of practical faith and positive action in overcoming adversity through miracles. Such was the case when Jesus returned to the land of Gennesaret. It seemed that this city lived up to the meaning of its name in every way. Gennesaret means a prince and it was exceedingly pleasant and fertile. The people recognised Jesus (as the Great Physician) as He had ministered there before. Their faith and expectations were high. They went far and near to bring their sick ones to Him for healing. They believed that a mere touch of Christ’s garment was sufficient to get healed. Jesus consented, and as many as touched Him in faith, regardless of the severity of their sickness, were healed.
Notice the untiring readiness of our Lord Jesus Christ “who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil…”He is ever willing to save sinners, heal the sick, and deliver the oppressed. As soon as He landed, He set to work and the faith of the people matched His passion. We should not passionately trust Jesus only for healing and material blessings, but also for the saving of our souls and other spiritual blessings that He gives to sincere seekers.
Jesus still heals today, for as the Scripture says, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We can trust Him for our healing. We can also take a cue from the charity of the people of Gennesaret to bring our suffering neighbours, relations, colleagues, and friends to Jesus, especially at occasions such as gospel crusades and church meetings. Just set the time, trust the Lord and your testimony lurks around the corner.
Thought for the day
When our faith meets with God’s faithfulness, a spark of blessing occurs.

Nothing strengthens a young believer like seeing faith in action, raiding the dead, opening blind eyes, making the lame to walk … in the Name of Jesus! As a young believer and down through my adult years, I’ve seen Jesus do these and much more.
Years ago in the city of Kano, Nigeria, I witnessed Jesus use a faith filled Area Leader (as they were called in those days) to raise a young boy of about 7 from the dead. The young boy suddenly died. His mother a member of Deeper Life who lived not far from me at Freetown Street, Sabin Gari, cried and told the family not to do anything with the boy’s dead body until she told the church. Bro Timothy was told. When he arrived at the place … I was there. He told everyone not to cry that the boy was not dead. Some fought laughter, but he repeated that the boy would live. At this time, this boy was stone cold and flies milled around his mouth and eyes as the body lay in a cardboard. He lifted up the boy, placed him on his shoulder and moved down to 52 Egbe Road where a praying team joined him in prayers.
They persisted in prayer. About 3pm the boy sneezed. Life came back into him. He walked from church back to that street and to the house. Halkelujah!!! The street went wild in jubilation. I was a witness to this and many more. Oh how my faith was strengthened. To this day, those days and other miracles that prove that Jesus is the Living Savior still encourage me. Never give up on Jesus! He is closer to you than your skin. He is alive! Yeshua… Jesus of Nazareth … the Anointed Christ is God’s son, is God in Flesh and the Savior of the world. Praise His Holy Name!!!
