Friday, March 21, 2025Key Verse
“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:8-9).
Text —1 Peter 3:8-12
Message
George Washington Carver once said, “Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant with the weak and wrong. Sometime in your life, you will have been all of these.” God created humans in His image and expects them to be empathetic towards one another. Empathy is the ability to see the world from other’s point of view and to identify and understand other’s situation, feelings and motives. Those who lack empathetic skills are selfish and only conscious of their personal benefits.
Christian youths are expected to be empathetic towards their sinner friends by preaching Christ to them. Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw the multitude of people laden with sin and without a shepherd to rescue them. You are to read the emotions of others and put yourself in their shoes – rejoicing with those who are rejoicing and mourning with those who are mourning. However, except a sinner repents and accepts Christ, he cannot have a compassionate or an empathetic heart because of the nature of Adam that controls him.
