Message
The saying is true, “What you don’t use, you lose.” If you hung your hand in a sling and would not use it for one whole month, you would lose some function in that hand. There is a unique ability that God has given you, some skill or talent in which you can excel. Your talent may be literary, artistic, or creative, but it shines forth and even expands through constant usage. Like the unprofitable servant in our passage today, some youths are consumed by jealousy of other people’s talents while despising and neglecting their own.
Born-again youths possess an added advantage. When their natural talent is consecrated to the Lord, it may transform into a spiritual gift that blesses countless lives for God. Are you born again? Follow the example of Joseph who sought every opportunity to help others with his gift of dreams and interpretation. Joseph’s talent eventually became the ladder upon which he ascended to the office of the Prime Minister in Egypt. Therefore, identify your God-given talent, consecrate it to God and then build it, don’t bury it. Remember, today is World Creativity and Innovation Day.
