“Bible Animal – Snake”

Key Verse

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.” John 3:14

Text — John 3:13-16

Message

The story of the animal kingdom in the Bible is a very interesting one. Here we can discover great wisdom and wonderful lessons for everyone. The snake is part of God’s creatures and it has different species.

The snake holds significant meaning in the Bible, symbolizing both deception and wisdom. In the book of Genesis, the serpent deceived Adam and Eve, leading to the fall of mankind. This serpent represents Satan, who cunningly tempted them to disobey God’s command. On the other hand, the snake also represents wisdom in the New Testament. In Matthew 10:16, Jesus instructs His disciples to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. Here, the snake symbolizes the need for believers to be observant and careful in their interactions with the world, while remaining gentle and peaceful in their approach.

Another reference to the snake is found in Numbers 21:9, where God instructs Moses to make a bronze serpent on a pole, and whoever looks at it will be healed from the deadly snake bites. This is pointing to Jesus being lifted on the cross to save humanity from the consequences of sin. The snake in the Bible serves as a reminder of the dangers of deception, the call to wisdom, and the ultimate redemption found in Christ.
