“Be Valiant And Vigilant”
Tuesday, May 6, 2025Key Verse
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1Peter 5:8).
Text —1 Peter 5:8-11
Message
In the Old Testament, the word ‘valiant’ was translated as “power” or “might.” It symbolizes courage and men of war. It also describes believers as very bravely determined; especially when things are difficult or the situation gives no cause for hope. Bryant McGill said, “A valiant mind is the greatest weapon against error.” Saints are not only to be fearless and resolute but also to be vigilant against error, temptations and anything that can endanger their lives and ministries.
Remember Samson? He was valiant but not vigilant concerning women and fell woefully (Judges 14:5-6; 16:1-7, 16-21). Peter enjoins us: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” Watch out for the devil walking about, seeking to steal your salvation and devour your eternal hope of glory. Be steadfast in faith by resisting the devil. Today, some are departing from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Therefore, watch and pray so that the ‘roaring lion’ does not make you another victim.
