Key Verse
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Text — 2 Timothy 1:6-10
Message
A sound mind is a state of mental and physical well-being with a clarity of thought, emotional stability, and a healthy sense of self-awareness. The sound mind allows students to think clearly, make good decisions, and excel in education. The students with sound minds feel calm and have ability to process, analyse, and interpret information acquired through learning and reading. On the other hand, a student who is anxious because of problems might find it tough focusing on his or her studies and other issues of life.
Our text mentions three gifts that God endows His children with. They are: the spirit of power, love and a sound mind. God excluded the spirit of fear which hinders concentration, creativity and flying high like the eagle. A sound mind on the contrary cannot be intimidated anywhere, be it in education, career or the gospel work. Paul, Peter, Stephen and Martin Luther, could not be intimidated in the mission work. The Early Church succeeded because they had sound minds. Are you a part of Christ’s Church? Then you have a sound mind if “yes” and if no, then repent now.
