“A Jailer Turns To Jesus”
Sunday, January 26, 2025Key Verse
“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:30, 31).
Text —Acts 16:23-24
Message
Ben was a chief prison guard, among other guards in an African country. The prison inmates were always aggressive and confrontational to the guards, because of maltreatment. Among the inmates were two young Christians, Ken and Joe, who were wrongly imprisoned due to miscarriage of justice. Unlike other inmates, they upheld prison rules which fellow inmates disdained. They prayed for the guards and inmates, and utilized every opportunity to evangelize. Observing the positive impact of the lives of Ken and Joe on other inmates, the chief guard invited them for an interaction. Seizing the opportunity, they shared the gospel with him, and he surrendered his life to Christ, like the jailer in our text. What a challenge to persecuted Christian youths!
Beloved, do you seek revenge against your persecutors in school or workplace? Desist from such behaviour. Like Paul and Silas, Ken and Joe, focus on God. Pray for, and preach the Gospel to your persecutors. Maintain a Christ-like life, and remain steadfast in faith. Surely, God will deliver you, and your persecutors will be drawn to Him.
