Key Verse
“…..and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat.” Ezra 6:21b
Text — Ezra 6:20-22
Message
The passover is one of the most important feast God commanded the children of Israel to observe. It is celebrated to remember how God passed over or spared the families of the children of Israel, while death came upon all first born males of man and animals that belonged to the Egyptians. It is also to thank God for the great deliverance of the children of Israel from the bondage in Egypt. Many years had passed, the children of Israel had sinned against God and God had sent them away to captivity in a strange land. A time came again for them to remember God’s great deliverance. To be qualified to take part in this important feast, the priests had to purify themselves and the children of Israel from all uncleanness. This they did by repenting of their sins and separating from the heathen (unbelievers) among whom they lived.
The lesson for us here is very clear. Very soon, we will have a great feast- the marriage supper with Jesus. Only those who have separated themselves from the filthiness of sin and have kept themselves pure from the pollutions of this sinful world will take part in that feast with Christ. Are you ready?
